Conference Theme:

โ€œAdvancing the understanding and impacts of emotional well-being towards flourishing societiesโ€

Philosophy underpinning the Conference:

Well-being has been the subject of a great deal of interest and research over the last decades, but with a lesser depth of focus on โ€˜emotional well-beingโ€™. Restating the goal of not just โ€˜well-beingโ€™ but โ€˜emotional well-beingโ€™ is timely. Emotional well-being remains an urgent civil societiesโ€™ global burden. There is an increasing prevalence of emotional well-being problems and challenges in our societies and nations. Many issues are under debate as to the philosophical and practical nature of โ€˜Emotional well-beingโ€™. Questions we may ask are: can it be realistic or interpretivist?

The philosophy of โ€˜Emotional well-beingโ€™ is directly relevant to the conference and it underpins the theme to leverage emotional well-being of individuals, groups, communities, and nations towards positive engagement, accomplishments, and flourishing societies. It undertakes a multi-faceted and pluralistic effort to facilitate emotional well-being to be the centre of efforts to enhance the well-being of populations. Emotional well-being needs to take a centre stage globally. The structure of this conference creates an opportunity for addressing such a position through discourse, reflection, analysis, and consideration of examples of various practical, applied methods and processes.
